The Storm
It was the day when we were putting the final touches to the first ever Emerald travel guitar and that evening I had scheduled to paddle around the most northerly tip of Ireland, Malin Head. The Forecast was bad but when we make a plan we stick to it.
So off we go with Canoe, Paddle and the First Ever Emerald X5 Life which got its name later that night. We met at Malin head as planned and any plans of going out in the Canoes were soon swept away in the sea.
A huge storm was coming in off the Atlantic and some of the biggest waves I had ever seen were crashing over the sea wall. Not to miss an opportunity we decided to go out onto the rocks and give the new baby a road test but soon the baby was getting its first bath. At first we were happy just sitting on the rocks playing a few tunes an experience we will never forget, crashing waves and haunting tunes melting together to form an impressive sound track.
As time went on we got braver and closer and had a few near misses with some rather large waves but then we decided as we had got the wet suits with us, why not check out the full extent of the Emeralds durability and soon we were out on the rocks right in the middle of the surf.
It was a great night and a great way to bring a new guitar to life, the X5 “Life”
The Guitar survived as did we and the only scars were a little bit of rust on the strings. The first lesson learned is to use Elixir coated strings.
